Day 1 Arrive Bucharest
Upon arrival in Bucharest you will be met and transferred to your centrally located hotel. Remainder of the day is at leisure to begin your exploration of the Romanian capital known as the "Paris of the Balkans." This evening you will enjoy a traditional Romanian dinner with folklore show. Day 2 Bucharest
After breakfast enjoy a city tour of this lovely and elegant city. Included are an inside visit to the Village Museum and the Parliament House, the 2nd largest building in the world. You will also see the Revolution Square, the Patriarchal Cathedral and the Triumphal Arch. This evening you will enjoy dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight Hotel Victoria Tower or similar.
Day 3 Bucharest-Cozia-Sibiu
After breakfast you will be picked up from your hotel and drive north towards the Carpathian Mountains. On the way visit the Cozia Orthodox Monastery built in 1836 in the beautiful Byzantine style. Cross the scenic Olt River Valley into Transylvania, the land of mysteries, superstitions and medieval fortresses. Arrive in Sibiu, once the richest town in Transylvania founded in the 12th century by Saxon Colonists. Your Sibiu city tour includes the old quarter with its Evangelical Cathedral, Roman-Catholic baroque church, the Great and Lesser Square, the interesting Pharmacy Museum and the Brukenthal Museum, one of the best art galleries in Romania. In the evening drive to the small village of Sibiel where you will visit the unique glass icons museum and enjoy a hearty traditional dinner. Overnight Hotel Ramada or similar in Sibiu
Day 4 Sibiu-Cluj-Hoteni Village
After breakfast depart for Cluj the cultural capital of Transylvania where you will enjoy a city tour. Continue driving north into the region of Maramures, the land of wooden architecture and centuries old traditions. Experience real countryside life through your 2 day stay at a local farmhouse in the village of Hoteni. Dinner and overnight farmhouse.
Day 5 Hoteni Village-Maramures Area-Hoteni Village
Full day to discover the land of wooden churches, gates and houses. Visit the unique Merry Cemetery in the village of Sapanta. Stop in Sighetul Marmatiel and visit the local folk art museum and the former communist prison now a memorial dedicated to the fighters for freedom. Stop and admire the pace of life and traditional crafts in the villages on the way. Attend al local market and enjoy the colorful crowd. Dinner and overnight Hoteni.
Day 6 Hoteni Village- Barsana Monastery-Radauti
Drive through the scenic Prislop Pass to Bucovina, the land of the famous painted churches and monasteries and pristine landscapes. On the way to Radauti town, admire the superb wooden architecture of the Barsana Monastery and the 18th century Rozavlea wooden church, with its beautifully preserved interior paintings. Day 7 Radauti-Painted Monasteries-Radauti
Today you will enjoy a full day tour of the famous painted monasteries of Bucovina including the Sucevita Monastery, the best preserved of all with its imposing walls and defensive towers, Voronet Monastery the "Sistine Chapel" of Eastern Europe famous for the blue color used by the artist as background for its frescoes, the Moldovita Monastery, winner of the Golden Apple Award in 1975 given by UNESCO affiliated journalists and the Humor Monastery with the best preserved inside frescoes. Day 8 Radauti-Bistrita-Tagu Mures-Sighisoara
Leave behind the enchanting Bucovina area and drive southwards, back into the heart of legendary Transylvania, the "Land beyond the Forests." Passing through Bistrita and Tagu Mures, you will arrive in Sighisoara, a Saxon medieval fortress town, which has become part of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage as the best preserved and continuously inhabited early medieval citadel in the world. In the city of Tagu Mures visit the famous Tekeki Library with its collection of rare books and manuscripts. This evening dinner will be served in the Medieval style. Overnight Hotel Sighisoara.
Day 9 Sighisoara-Prejmer-Brasov-Sinaia
After breakfast your Sighisoara tour includes visits to the famous Clock Tower Museum, the Torture Room, Evangelical Church and the Armor Room. You will also visit the house in which Dracula-Vlad the Impaler was born and nowadays is a restaurant. Depart for Brasov with a visit to the local peasant fortress, a unique example of medieval defensive structure perfectly preserved and listed on the UNESCO Heritage List, in Prejmer on the way. Arrive in Brasov for a comprehensive city tour that includes visits to the famous Black Church, the largest Gothic construction in Southeastern Europe, St. Nicholas Orthodox Church and the first Romanian School. In the evening arrive to the famous mountain resort of Sinaia. Dinner will be served at the Cabana Vanatoreasca (Hunters Lodge). Overnight Hotel Palace in Sinaia.
Day 10 Sinaia-Bran-Sinaia
After breakfast, take your time to discover all the treasures of Sinaia. Visit Peles Castle, an exquisite piece of architecture, which served as the summer residence of King Carol I and the Pelisor Castle built in Art-Nouveau style for the second Romanian King and his wife, the famous Mary of Romania. Lunch will be served in the real Balkan style at the "Serbian Tavern" restaurant. In the afternoon drive to Bran Castle, built in the 14th century by the merchants of Brasov to protect the border between Valahia and Transylvania, also known as Dracula's Castle. Overnight Hotel Palace or similar.
Day 11 Sinaia-Murighol (Danube Delta)
After breakfast drive to Murighol in the Danube Delta. Cross the mighty river by ferry and then drive through the interesting province of Dobrogea. Boat transfer to the floating hotel. Dinner and overnight in the Danube Delta on the Anastasia Floating Hotel.
Day 12 Danube Delta
Today you will admire the youngest territory in the world (the Danube Delta came into being only 10,000 years ago and is still in the process of formation), its scenic beauty and the wild life here (the Delta is also known as the birdwatchers paradise), or just relax while sailing through the narrow channels and maybe try some fishing. Today you will be able to taste the cuisine of the Danube Delta with your included lunch and dinner. Overnight on the Anastasia Floating Hotel.
Day 13 Murighiol-Constanta-Bucharest
Leave your floating hotel and drive south towards Constanta-the main city on the Romanian Black Sea Riviera. Visit on the way the Archeological Museum and the ruins of the Antique City of Histria founded by the Greek colonists in the 7th century BC. Arrive in Constanta and visit the old city including the Archeological Museum, the Roman Mosaic and the famous Casino. Afternoon arrive in Bucharest. Farewell dinner will be served in a local restaurant. Overnight Hotel Victoria Tower or similar.
Day 14 Bucharest-End of Tour
After breakfast you will be taken to the airport or you may extend your stay in beautiful Bucharest.
