Day 1 Saturday-Arrive Bucharest Upon arrival in Bucharest you will be met and taken to your centrally located hotel. Remainder of the day is at leisure to begin your exploration of the Romanian capital, known as the "Paris of the East." Dinner and overnight Hotel Central or similar.
Day 2 Sunday-Bucharest-Curtea De Arges-Sibiu In the morning you will be taken on a Bucharest panoramic sightseeing tour, then departure to Curtea de Arges, the former capital of Wallachia. Visit the Episcopal Church where Romanian Kings are buried. Lunch in local restaurant. Drive along the picturesque Olt Valley to Sibiu, one of the oldest towns in Transylvania , formerly Hermannstadt, founded by Saxon colonists. Guided walking tour of the medieval town (the Main Square, the Evangelical Church, the Liars Bridge etc.). Dinner and overnight Hotel Forum or similar.
Day 3 Monday-Sibiu-Sighisoara-Targu Mures Morning departure via Sighisoara, birthplace of Vlad the Impaler. Visit the medieval citadel: the Clock Tower, the Church on the Hill, the House of Dracula and the roofed stairways. Lunch at House of Dracula restaurant. Drive on to Targu Mures, walking tour through the elegant city center well known for its architecture: The Culture Palace, the Orthodox Churches, the Teleki-Bolyai library.
Dinner and overnight in Targu Mures at the Hotel Continental or similar.
Day 4 Tuesday-Targu Mures-Campulung Moldovenesc-Suceava Departure to Bucovina, land of the unique painted monasteries belonging to the UNESCO World Heritage. Arrive at Campulung Moldovenesc and visit the Wooden Museum. Lunch in a local, traditional restaurant. In the afternoon visit the Moldovita and Sucevita monasteries - treasures of the medieval Moldavian art and the village of Marginea famous for its black pottery. Drive on to Suceava, former capital of Moldova. Dinner and overnight Hotel Continental or similar in Suceava.
Day 5 Wednesday-Suceava-Monasteries-Piatra Neamt In the morning drive on through some charming Moldovia villages. Visit the monasteries in Piatra Neamt: Neamt monastery which was built in the 14 century. Visit also the Secu monastery - traditional lunch at the monastery with wine and Tuica (a traditional drink). Continue to the Agapia Monastery, which is surrounded by small houses, which create a royal village. Arrive at Piatra Neamt in the afternoon. Walking tour with a visit to the St. John Monastery. Dinner and overnight in Piatra Neamt at the Hotel Ceahlau or similar.
Day 6 Thursday-Piatra Neamt-Prejmer-Bran-Brasov-Timisu de Sus Drive on to Brasov, with a stop and visit to Prejmer famous for its beautiful fortified church. Continue to Bran to visit the medieval castle built as a fortress, The "Dracula's" Castle (1377). Lunch en route. Arrival at Brasov, formerly Kronstadt, founded by the Saxon colonists. Walking tour through the old town center, including the Black Church, the Council Square, the Hirche house, the baroque style buildings from the Austro-Hungarian times. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel Gaiser located in the middle of the forest in the lovely mountain resort town of Timisu de Sus.
Day 7 Friday-Timisu de Sus-Sinaia-Bucharest In the morning drive across the mountains to Sinaia, named the "Pearl of the Carpathians". Stop in Azuga for wine tasting. Hunters lunch will be served in Sinaia at a local restaurant. After visit the famous Peles Castle, an exquisite piece of architecture which served as the summer residence of the Romanian Royal family. Late afternoon departure to Bucharest. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel Central or similar.
Day 8 Saturday-Bucharest-End of Tour After breakfast you will be taken to the airport or you may extend your stay in lovely Bucharest. You may also choose to continue on to Bulgaria or Hungary.
